Outside Kalampaka, at the heights of Pindos mountain, there is Meteora, a complex of huge rocks, on whose peaks are located monasteries, being the second most important monastic community in Greece after Mount Athos.
Today there are six monasteries (of former 30), which continue to keep a valuable history and tradition, following even today the Orthodox spiritual life and exercise, causing many years now respect and awe to their visitors.
Meteora is among the heritage sites of UNESCO, as a monument of unique natural beauty and of Byzantine architecture, protecting in their interior priceless treasures.
